Why The Edge

A Team Worth Joining

We've spent 30 years building a company where skilled tradespeople can do their best work — with the tools, technology, and leadership to back them up.

Competitive Pay

We pay above-market rates for skilled tradespeople because we expect above-average results. Your skills are worth it — and we know it.

Consistent Work

Our project pipeline keeps crews working year-round. No boom-and-bust cycle — just steady commercial projects across Chicagoland.

Safety First

Safety isn't a poster on the wall — it's how we plan every job. OSHA compliance, proper equipment, and a zero-tolerance culture for shortcuts.

Modern Technology

Work alongside laser layout equipment, Procore-managed projects, and prefabrication systems that make your job smarter — not just harder.

Strong Team Culture

Small enough to know everyone, large enough to keep you busy. We treat crew members like professionals — because that's what you are.

Room to Grow

Foreman positions are filled from within. If you show up, perform, and lead — there's a clear path to running your own crew at The Edge.

About the Role

We're looking for experienced commercial metal stud framers who take precision seriously. You'll be working on a variety of projects across Chicagoland — from multi-family residential to retail build-outs to complex historic renovations — with a crew that knows what they're doing and takes pride in it.

On complex and large-scale projects, we deploy precision laser layout. If you've worked with rotary lasers and understand what tight tolerances mean for the trades coming after you, you'll fit right in.

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years commercial metal stud framing experience
  • Proficiency reading architectural and structural drawings
  • Experience with laser layout equipment
  • Ability to work from scaffolding and aerial lifts (OSHA 10 preferred)
  • Reliable transportation to job sites across Chicagoland
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Experience with curtain wall backup, tall-wall, or complex assemblies a plus

About the Role

The Edge operates a drywall shape prefabrication shop and invests in advanced finishing equipment — meaning our tapers work smarter, not just harder. We're looking for experienced commercial tapers and finishers who can deliver consistent Level 5 finish quality across a range of project types.

You'll work alongside our framing crews in a coordinated sequence, with project management tools that keep the schedule tight and the handoffs clean.

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years commercial taping and finishing experience
  • Level 4 and Level 5 finish capability
  • Experience with spray texture and flat finish applications
  • Familiarity with automatic taping tools a strong plus
  • Ability to read and work from finish specifications
  • Reliable transportation to job sites across Chicagoland
  • OSHA 10 preferred; willing to train the right candidate

About the Role

We're looking for experienced commercial drywall hangers to join our production crews. Our prefab shop pre-builds many assemblies before they hit the field — so you spend your time hanging, not cutting and fitting from scratch. Efficient, clean, and professional.

Projects range from large multi-family residential to commercial tenant improvements across the Chicagoland area.

What We're Looking For

  • 2+ years commercial drywall hanging experience
  • Proficiency with lift equipment and working at height
  • Knowledge of fire-rated assembly requirements
  • Ability to read architectural plans and mark-ups
  • Efficient production pace on repetitive unit layouts
  • Reliable transportation to Chicagoland job sites
  • OSHA 10 a plus; will assist with certification

About the Role

We promote from within and we're growing. If you're an experienced framer who has run a crew — or is ready to — we want to talk. Foremen at The Edge are responsible for daily crew management, quality control, layout execution, and coordination with the GC and other trades.

You'll have access to our project management software, laser equipment, and direct support from our project managers. We set our foremen up to succeed — not just put out fires.

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years commercial framing experience
  • Prior foreman or lead carpenter experience preferred
  • Strong laser layout skills — runner and column lines, elevations
  • Ability to manage 4–10 person crews across a job site
  • Comfortable with project management software and daily reporting
  • Strong communication with GC supers and project managers
  • OSHA 30 preferred; valid driver's license required

Our Culture

People Who Take Pride in the Work

Commercial construction is hard. The weather, the schedules, the demanding specs — it takes people who genuinely care about the outcome to do it well consistently. That's the culture we've built at The Edge over 30 years.

We invest in technology so that our crews can do their best work. We pay fairly so that good people want to stay. And we run our projects with enough discipline that our foremen can focus on quality — not crisis management.

If that sounds like your kind of crew, we'd like to meet you.
