Custom hexagonal acoustic ceiling installation — The Edge Construction Co.

Acoustic Installations

Specialty ceiling clouds, wood and metal acoustic systems, and custom architectural ceiling designs — where performance meets precision.

Why Specialty Acoustic Ceilings Require a Dedicated Installer

Acoustic ceiling systems occupy a unique space in commercial construction — they're simultaneously a performance specification and a design statement. The suspended cloud in a restaurant lobby, the wood slat system in a corporate headquarters, the geometric panel ceiling in a performing arts venue — all of these require a level of installation precision that goes well beyond standard suspended tile work.

The Edge specializes in the specialty ceiling systems that architects design and owners invest in to define the character of a space. We work from submittals through final adjustment, coordinating with the manufacturer and the design team to deliver exactly what was envisioned. Acoustic performance targets are measured against ASTM E1264 acoustical ceiling standards and specified NRC (Noise Reduction Coefficient) ratings.

Custom Geometric Systems

Hexagonal, honeycomb, cloud, and freeform ceiling systems with complex suspension requirements and tight tolerance fitting.

Precision Suspension Layout

Laser-established suspension points ensure level, aligned installation — critical for floating clouds and floating panel systems.

Submittal Coordination

We review shop drawings with the manufacturer before product ships — preventing costly field modifications on expensive specialty systems.

System Types

What Types of Acoustic Ceiling Systems Does The Edge Install?

From simple baffles to complex custom designs, we install the full range of specialty acoustic ceiling systems.

Ceiling Clouds

Suspended horizontal acoustic panels — single or multi-level — that float below the structural ceiling to absorb sound and define zones within open spaces.

Wood Slat Ceilings

Linear wood plank and slat systems that deliver warmth and acoustic performance simultaneously — popular in hospitality, corporate, and multi-family lobbies.

Metal Panel Systems

Perforated and solid metal ceiling panels in linear, modular, and custom geometric configurations — for high-design commercial and industrial spaces.

Geometric & Honeycomb

Complex geometric ceiling designs including hexagonal, triangular, and custom freeform systems — as seen in our Midwest Coast Brewing rooftop installation.

Acoustic Baffles

Vertically hung acoustic baffles for open ceiling environments — warehouses, gyms, cafeterias, and industrial spaces requiring sound control.

Fabric-Wrapped Panels

Custom fabric-wrapped acoustic panels for walls and ceilings in conference rooms, performing arts spaces, and premium office environments.

Standard Acoustic Ceilings

Traditional suspended acoustic tile grid systems for offices, schools, healthcare facilities, and commercial interiors requiring reliable sound control at production scale.

Common Questions

Acoustic Installations FAQ

At minimum: the reflected ceiling plan, any manufacturer spec sheets or specified product names, and the structural ceiling drawing showing what we're suspending from. For complex cloud or geometric systems, we also want to review the suspension details and any electrical or mechanical conflicts at ceiling level before we price. Early coordination on acoustic scopes prevents expensive field adjustments to custom-fabricated systems.

We install ceiling clouds and baffles, wood slat and plank ceilings, perforated and solid metal panel systems, geometric and honeycomb specialty ceilings, acoustic baffles, and fabric-wrapped wall and ceiling panels. If an architect has specified it and it goes on a ceiling, we've likely installed it.

Yes — we work from full architect and interior designer specifications, shop drawings, and manufacturer installation documents. We coordinate with the acoustic system manufacturer during the submittals phase to verify dimensions, suspension requirements, and installation sequence before any product ships to the job site.

Every acoustic installation begins with laser-established control points and elevation benchmarks. For floating cloud systems, we use precision leveling equipment to set suspension wire heights uniformly across the entire installation — critical for the flat, level appearance that defines a high-quality cloud system. We do not rely on eyeballing or spot-checking.
